Prime Minister Modi expressed his delight over the meeting with the championship team at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg (LKM), where he had an engaging conversation about their tournament journey.
He shared this experience on the social media platform ‘X’, noting, “An excellent meeting with our Champions! Hosted the World Cup winning team at 7, LKM and had a memorable conversation on their experiences through the tournament.”
The Prime Minister’s Office released a video slightly over a minute long, showcasing the players in a relaxed conversation with Modi, seated in a circle. Rohit Sharma, the team captain, was positioned to the right of the Prime Minister, with head coach Rahul Dravid to his left.
The players were dressed in special jerseys marked with the word ‘CHAMPIONS’ and adorned with two stars above the Team India crest, symbolizing their two T20 World Cup victories. The atmosphere was light-hearted, with players visibly happy as they engaged with the Prime Minister.
During this occasion, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah presented Prime Minister Modi with a customized Team India jersey. The jersey featured ‘NAMO’ and the number ‘1’ prominently displayed, signifying a gesture of appreciation and respect towards the Prime Minister.
