Striker Abu Bakr Mahmood will lead Pakistan’s 20-member squad at the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be held in the Netherlands and Belgium from August 15 to 30.
The national selectors have retained former captain Ammad Shakeel Butt in the squad, which largely comprises players who have represented Pakistan in recent international competitions.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation is yet to provide clarity on the coaching and management staff for the tournament.

Pakistan will return to the Men’s Hockey World Cup after an eight-year absence. It has been placed alongside arch-rival India, England and Wales in Pool D.
Pakistan will open its campaign against England in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, on August 15.
