Radha Yadav rues ‘errors’ by bowling unit in India’s defeat to South Africa in 1st T20I | Cricket News

Radha Yadav acknowledged that the bowling department committed several mistakes in their narrow 12-run defeat against South Africa in the first women’s T20I on Friday, while specifically mentioning that the fast bowlers could have utilized more yorkers during their spell.
The Indian bowling attack faced a daunting challenge as they were subjected to a powerful batting display from the South African duo of Tazmin Brits and Marizanne Kapp.Brits scored an impressive 81 runs, while Kapp contributed a valuable 57, enabling South Africa to set a formidable total of 190 runs for India to chase.
“It was important to know which length and pace to bowl at on this wicket. We did make some errors as a bowling unit; maybe gave away 10-15 extra runs,” said Radha during the post-match media interaction on Friday.
“We needed to hit them (at yorker length) since the ball was skidding,” she added, as the South Africa made good use of the sweep shot on a pitch with low bounce.
There was a moment where there was animated discussion on the field among the Indian players. “We were discussing about making them play where the fielders were stationed and also look to attack and take wickets. But, they did bat well,” Radha explained.
“We need to back our plans and quickly judge how the wicket is playing out. It will make things a lot easier for us.”
India will face the visitors in the second T20I on Sunday, and the hosts need to step up in their fielding performance, particularly their catching.
“I think it was just a bad day,” said Radha. “All are brilliant fielders in our group, and everyone has been putting in hard work and training. We’ll look to bounce back.”
