NEW DELHI: Jemimah Rodrigues, a prominent Indian batter, expressed her belief that participating in the women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) for the first time will enhance her ability to handle high-pressure scenarios in the forthcoming T20 World Cup.
The talented player is set to represent Trinbago Knight Riders in the WCPL.
“Firstly, just to come out and play cricket because for me, that’s how I see it before the (Women’s) T20 World Cup (2024).I think these are the matches that I’m actually going to get as rest all will be my own preparation,” Rodrigues said in an interaction organised by the Fancode.
“The more you’re in that situation and in those pressure moments, I think that’s the best preparation you can have. So, for me, I look at it (WCPL) more as a preparation for the T20 World Cup,” she added.
Rodrigues discussed her preparations for the upcoming World Cup during the chat, which primarily focused on the WCPL. She mentioned her intention to refine certain elements of her batting technique before the tournament.
The ICC has decided to relocate the prestigious event from Bangladesh to the UAE, citing political instability in the former country. The World Cup is scheduled to take place next month.
“Really looking forward to…a few things that I’m working on at nets and I am trying to implement them here.
“Because when you do it in practice, it’s different. But when you do it in a match, it’s way different.”
