Diksha lone Indian to make the cut at Women’s Scottish Open
Diksha Dagar compiled one-over 73 in the second round and was the only Indian to make the cut at the Women’s Scottish Open.
With rounds 74-73 she is 3-over and tied 35th with two more rounds to go.
Pranavi Urs (84-71) with a 13-shot difference between her rounds was 11-over and missed the cut as did Avani Prashanth (80-77).
The cut fell at +6 with 65 players making it through to the weekend in Scotland.
Diksha had three birdies, on the second, seventh and the 14th but also dropped shots on the third, sixth, 13th and the 15th.
Currently inside Top-10 of the LET Order of Merit, Diksha needs a strong result to make it to the AIG Women’s Open, a Major for women next week.

Singapore squash: Om Semwal, Sandhesh Ravikumar and Rathika Seelan bow out in final eight
Om Semwal, Sandhesh Ravikumar and Rathika Seelan bowed out in the quarterfinal of the PSA Singapore Challenger squash.
In men’s, fourth seed Semwal lost to eighth seed James Peach, the Briton winning 7-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7, while Ravikumar lost to South Korean third seed Jeongmin Ryu 9-11, 11-5, 7-11, 9-11.
In women’s, third seed Rathika went down to sixth seed Yu Jie Chen, the Malaysian winning 11-7, 12-10, 9-11, 11-0.

Day 2 Results: 4th Hockey India Junior Women Academy Championship 2026 – Zone A & B, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh
The second day of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women Academy Championship 2026 (Zone A & B) held in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, witnessed Bhai Behla Hockey Academy Bhagta & Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, register wins in their respective Pool B matches.
In the first match of the day in Pool B, Bhai Behla Hockey Academy Bhagta put up a clinical performance of 4-0 against Mumbai Schools Sports Association. Deepa Upadhyay (3’) opened the scoring early on, followed by goals by Jaskarndeep Kaur (13’) Dewika (56’) and Punita (58’) in a comfortable win for their team.
In the second and final match of Pool B, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy registered a commanding 9-0 victory over Ritu Rani Hockey Academy. Tanvi (10’, 33’), Priyanshi Bhanwar (24’, 26’) and Sujata Jayant (15’, 36’) scored two goals each, while Hirva Purohit (31’), Gungun Kaur (34’) and Kanak Pal (37’) contributed a goal apiece to complete the comprehensive win.

Chess+ initiative launched to promote chess education in schools
An initiative to introduce structured chess curriculum termed ‘CHESS+’ (Championing Excellence in Sport Skills) was launched on Saturday to build school chess ecosystem across the country.
The CHESS+ was launched by Jayant Chaudhary, the Minister of State (independent charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education.
The initiative, which is being implemented in partnership with the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NCS), will start with a pilot program across 30 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), 13 in Haryana, 15 in Uttar Pradesh, and 2 in Delhi.
“Designed to harness the educational value of chess, CHESS+ aims to nurture critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration, decision-making and resilience among students,” a release said.
“The pilot will offer a structured curriculum developed by the All India Chess Federation (AICF), delivered through trained coaches and teacher-mentors, alongside regular competitions and a robust evaluation framework,” it added.
The learnings from the pilot program will be imbibed in the phased expansion across Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
