India created history on Tuesday after it recorded its biggest-ever win in the history of the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup.
The Sjoerd Marijne-coached team thrashed South Africa 6-1 in a Pool-D fixture of the ongoing 2026 edition to break the record.
The side has six different scorers. Sunelita Toppo, Navneet Kaur, Deepika, Sushila Chanu, Lalremsiami, and Sakshi Rana got on the scoresheet and inked their names in history books.
The Indian team’s biggest-ever win in international women’s hockey remains its 24-0 drubbing of Nepal during the 2016 South Asian Games in Guwahati.
That match saw six Indian players score a hat-trick including Rani Rampal, Jaspreet Kaur, Punam Barla, Neha Goyal, Yendala Soundarya, and Deepika Thakur.
