India holds England to draw, advances to Women’s Hockey World Cup 2026 second round


India held England to a gritty 0-0 draw at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands to advance to the second round at the ongoing FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup 2026 on Thursday.

It was a brilliant defensive display from the Indian side, absorbing all the pressure from the English Penalty Corners especially in the second half.

It was Indian goalkeeper Bichu Devi’s late save, denying Tessa Howard’s shot, which turned out to be a match-saving one which ensured the Salima Tete-led side progressed.
