India skipper Harmanpreet Singh sat out the training a day before its crucial World Cup second round match against Netherlands on Saturday.
But the team’s talisman is expected to play against the world no. 2 host nation and that the defender is managing a slight back injury he picked up in the last game against Pakistan on Wednesday.
“He is fine. It’s just a precaution, he will play tomorrow,” India goalkeeping coach Dennis Van de Pol told Sportstar.
In the ongoing World Cup, Harmanpreet has been focal to India’s fortunes. The ace dragflicker leads the charts for most goals at five, all of them coming from Penalty Corners.
Even as the Indian attacking Penalty Corner unit went through their routines, Harmanpreet only watched on from close quarters, as India worked on its variations.
After India wrapped up training, Harmanpreet had a light kick-about with a football, but fans will hope he will be able to swap his trainers for the hockey boots come Saturday.
