India has named an 18-member men’s hockey squad, led by defender Anmol Ekka, for the AHF Junior Asia Cup to be held in Moqi, China, from August 30 to September 13. Arjun Santosh Hargude and Ritik Lakra have been named as alternate players. Coached by newly appointed Frederic Soyez, the team is training at the Sports Authority of India centre in Bengaluru after completing an exposure tour of Belgium and is now playing friendly matches against Malaysia U-21. Soyez said the squad was selected on consistent performances and believes it has the quality to compete strongly and continue its development on the international stage.

Goalkeepers: Vivek Lakra, Kunal Tewatia.
Defenders: Anmol Ekka (c), Rohit Kullu, Chirag, Ravinder, Ashu Maurya, Sanjit Tirkey, Sukhvinder.
Midfielders: Adrohit Ekka, Harpal, Jeetpal, Manmeet Singh Rai Forwards: Ajeet Yadav, Prabhdeep Singh, Gursewak Singh, Aryan Xess, Lovenoor Singh.
Alternate Players: Arjun Santosh Hargude, Ritik Lakra.
