Spain beat India 4-3 in the shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation time in their reverse fixture of the FIH Men’s Pro League 2025-26 at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre in Hobart on Tuesday.
India was on track for its maiden win courtesy Maninder Singh’s 18th-minute strike. However, Bruno Font scored the equaliser for the Spaniards with 94 second left in the game.
Spain also had three Penalty Corners in the last 13 seconds but the Indian defence managed to hold on and earn at least a point from the game.
In the shootout, Spanish goalkeeper Luis Calzado saved the attempts from Abhishek and Indian captain Hardik Singh to earn the bonus point for his side.
India has two points after seven games, comprising five losses and two draws, and is placed second-last amongst nine teams in the standings.
The Men In Blue play against Australia on Wednesday in their final match of the Hobart leg.
