India lost to Australia in the penalty shootout after their FIH Pro League 2025-26 clash ended in a 2-2 draw at the Tasmania Hockey Centre in Hobart on Sunday.
Amit Rohidas and Jugraj Singh scored from penalty corners in the first and third quarters, respectively, before Joel Rintala got on the scoresheet twice for the home side in the final quarter to force the draw. Australia then went on to edge India 5-4 in the shootout for an extra point.
The draw means that India opened its account in this campaign with one point, after five straight losses.
