India came from two goals down to defeat Argentina 4-2 in the third-place playoff during the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup 2025 in Chennai on Tuesday
Argentina opened the score early in the opening quarter, earning a Penalty Corner with a high press. Argentina won a penalty stroke from the short corner which Nicolas Rodriguez converted. The visitor doubled its lead in the third quarter when Santiago Fernandez fired from another short corner.
But India struck twice through Penalty Corners in the final quarter, with Anmol and Manmeet Singh getting on the scoresheet. Sharda Nand Tiwari then converted a stroke to put India in the lead in the 56th minute.
With Argentina pulling out its goalkeeper to give itself an numeric advantage in the closing moments, India got the chance to close out the contest with another PC. Anmol converted in front of an open goal two minutes from the final hooter to secure the bronze for India.
