India’s campaign at the FIH Men’s World Cup 2026 came to a close after its classification match against Belgium on August 28.
A 3-4 defeat via penalties against Belgium confirmed that India finished eighth at the tournament. It finished second in its first-round group featuring England (which topped the group), Pakistan, and Wales, defeating the latter two before losing to the former.
In the second round, it was drawn alongside England, Argentina, and Netherlands. It failed to secure a single win, ensuring that it finished bottom of the group and sending it into the seventh/eighth place classification match.
